How to Detox Your Body Naturally
Posted by admin in Detox Diet, Detox Tips on January 12th, 2010
We are constantly exposed to toxic substances
Scientific research has shown that environmental pollution enters the blood stream via food, water and air. When pollution enters the blood stream, toxins accumulate in the body and the natural balance of the organs such as the liver (the natural filtration system of the body) can be affected.
Environmental pollution, fast foods, drugs, alcohol, sedentary lifestyles – are all factors to feel sluggish and unmotivated!
To start off completely refreshed, remedies exist to promote toxin elimination with detoxification and cleansing of the body!
THE NATURAL WAY
To help detoxify the body, it is a good idea to start drinking lots of water (8 glasses a day) to help flush out and hydrate your system, as well as promote the water balance in the body.
Eating fruits and vegetables along with the daily recommendation of fiber will also help the natural detoxification and regulate your system naturally. Never forget the power of physical exercise! Having a good workout will promote sweating – another great way to promote cleansing and detoxifying the body!
Natural and homeopathic remedies have been used in complementary and alternative medicine for thousands of years to assist the body’s natural detoxification, getting rid of waste and toxins and thus clearing the bodies. More recently, research has confirmed this traditional wisdom.
There are now various published clinical studies demonstrating the ability of a range of herbs to support natural detoxification at home with routine rinsing of the stomach and digestive system. This promotes the elimination of toxins through the liver.
Studies have also shown natural substances to help the body remain regular and help the body’s ability to get rid of toxic waste.
What helps the Body’s Natural Detoxification?
Taraxacum officinalis (Dandelion) was used in Native American medicine and is commonly found in many parts of the world. It contains bitter principles that have a stimulating effect on liver and digestive system. It is also a rich source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, D, C, and B and iron, silicon, magnesium, zinc and manganese. It enhances the performance of the liver and gallbladder and can help maintain healthy blood pressure because of its diuretic properties.
Foeniculum vulgare (Fennel) has natural diuretic properties and also promotes a healthy liver, kidney and spleen and is useful to reduce discomfort caused by stomach acids. More recently, fennel has shown to help relieve colic and disorders of the stomach. The test tube and animal studies allude to a number of potential medicinal effects of fennel or its components, such as muscle relaxation and stimulation of bile flow.
Pelargonium reniform is a medicinal plant known to generations of descendants of the Khoi-San and Xhosa traditional healers for their health promoting characteristics. Also known as ‘Umckaloabo’, is traditionally used for a range of therapeutic and is well known for its ability to support liver function and as a digestive tonic. This species of pelargonium is indigenous to the Eastern Cape of South Africa and grows wild, sending out long root bulbs deep in the earth. The active medicinal ingredients are in the bitter root of the plant. Recent studies have shown that this herb may be beneficial in supporting the body’s ability to balance various body systems after illness.
Ozonated Magnesium Oxides is the only form of the essential mineral that is capable of releasing nascent oxygen into the digestive tract and bloodstream. They act as a mild colonic motivator to promote bowel function, it reacts readily in both hydrochloric acid and water, and provides the colon with muscle relaxing properties to help ease symptoms of IBS and occasional constipation. Oxy-Powder® contains the necessary amount of ozonated magnesium oxides to cleanse the colon thoroughly of built up toxins in the intestines.

From Graphic Designer to a Detox Queen
Posted by admin in Detox Diet on September 30th, 2009
I stumbled across this video while looking for natural detox methods for the body. Detoxification as explained by Rhadia Gleis (Ph.D., M.Ed., and C.C.N.) is an often overlooked process that is life and career changing. Rhadia started her career off working for Disney as a graphic designer until she came across health problems such as heart palpitations, headaches and weight problems in her early 20’s.
When she found out that her doctor would load her up with meds and expect to “cover up” the symptom and not eliminate the root cause, Rhadia decided to seek alternative health practices. She later went on to consult an allopathic doctor that pretty much changed the course of her life and career.
She has now become a successful clinical nutritionist after going back to college and became labeled as the “Detox Queen” from college, for her work done on detoxification.
Check out the video below and see for yourself.
Facts
- We are exposed to 500,000 different toxins year increasing in 50,000 into our atmosphere every year – take on a well thought out detoxification program specific to your needs.
- 90% of the reasons why they were feeling bad is a result of things we do to ourselves- not eating right, exercise, etc. – exercise more often and take on a healthy diet, high fiber diet, 3 apples and 3 vegetables is a good place to start.
- 80% of our body is water – Increase water consumption.
Helpful Tips
- Spring and the autumn are the best times to detox.
- Make sure you are having good bowel function at the very least 1 time a day! (side note: a colon cleansing supplement is worth it if you are having problems with constipation)
- Maintain your elimination routes open.

30 Day Natural Detox Diet Video
Posted by admin in Detox Diet on September 23rd, 2009
We just finished talking about what is a natural detox last week and some of the methods we can use to detox our digestive system. Now we will talk about a video I found on YouTube that gives details on how a day with a detox diet by Dr Tracy Tranchitella, ND will play out. She gives a little glimpse of what a daily detox diet would look like during her 30 Day Detox Diet.
She goes on to talk about how she starts off most of her patients with a detox diet to get them to feel better and healthier. Patients will report to have detox symptoms such as headaches and fatigue during the initial stage but after a week, some report having weight loss, feeling much more healthier, and a desire to continue eating healthy.
The diet under her standards consist of eating organic and raw vegetables and fruits. Also, eating foods high in fiber, your essential fats, and antioxidants such as berries (goji berries would be a good selection) that are low sugar are great for this diet. Most of her patients really enjoy the smoothie recipe (with flax oil and ground flaxseeds). A probiotic supplement is suggested to increase the friendly bacteria in the intestines.
Here is an example of what kind of diet she would recommend her patients.
Sample Breakfast
| Hardy Breakfast | Lighter | Protein |
| Gluten free hot cereal | Fresh fruit and a choice from these types of nuts | Organic Eggs prepared at low heat |
Sample Lunch & Dinner
A Sample Lunch and dinner should be:
- Low in starch carbohydrates
- Consist of More vegetables, double the size of your palm in quantity as a rule of thumb.
- The palm of your hand should be a guide for the quantity of protein (non-starchy).
A Large Raw Salad followed by some protein (i.e. fish) is a great combo for dinner/lunch.
Some people will even lose weight as a result of cleansing the body of toxins. She feels that the solution to pollution is dilution. Many people feel a significant difference, especially for those that have been eating horribly, after the detox diet.
Headaches and fatigue can result during the initial detox diet. This is a good sign as it shows that your body is downloading all the toxins and eliminating them from your body.
The detox diet is more than just a diet, it is more like a lifestyle.

How to Administer Detox Foot Pads
Posted by admin in Foot Detox on September 11th, 2009
- Rinse away any dirt and skin oil that will tamper with the sticking of the foot pad.
- An exfoliant can be used to remove dead skin cells.
- Stick the detox pads on your feet using the adhesive before going to bed. Make sure it is on good before going to bed, as it may fall off if not placed correctly. Some people find putting them on the floor and stepping on them to be the best method to put them on.
- Go to sleep! It is recommended that you leave them on for 8 hours each day of the week. The detox foot pads usually feel warm and become darker as they absorb waste matter and toxins from your body. In some cases, they might even become sticky.
- The next morning you should expect a dark colored foot pad that will slowly begin to fade away in color as the use of these foot pads are continued over the course of the week. Trash the used ones, and continue the use over the week.
- Towards the end of the week, the color of the foot pads begins to remain the same and do not change. Congratulations! You have completed a successful detox.
