How Do I Detox Myself?

The machine, known as the human body is so complex that it carries out a series of complicated functions to stay alive. These functions are necessary, but produce some waste that can be extremely dangerous unless deleted or converted, as soon as possible, into harmless chemicals.

In this natural internal stress process, there is the external stress to which we are subjected to. For example, the toxicity of heavy metals and other harmful substances are very common today. Lead, cadmium, aluminum, mercury, arsenic, nitrates, radiation and pesticides in general are among us through air, water, food, hygiene products and others.

If the amount of toxins exceeds our ability to detoxify these harmful substances become integrated into our bones, fat, brain and other tissues. When, for example, body fat is used to produce energy (such as following a strict diet, being under nervous stress, not eating regularly, etc..) the toxins are expelled into the blood and may affect the brain, nervous system, liver, kidneys and other vital organs.

Whatever the type of stress we are subjected to (internal or external), produces toxins called free radicals.

The body is equipped with various antioxidant enzymes that neutralize free radicals. To function effectively they are required cofactors such as manganese, iron, copper, zinc, glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. There are also natural antioxidants produced by the body, like cholesterol, which helps protect cell membranes against free radical attack.

It is important to provide the body with extra help through these antioxidants, which are substances that protect cells from the destructive effects of free radicals. Natural antioxidants include vitamins C, A, E, beta carotene and the B group, the mineral selenium, amino acids L-glutathione, L-metiotina and other substances such as quercetin and coenzyme Q10.

When the body is starved of nutrients and antioxidant cofactors, and is also going under a high rate of toxicity, symptoms and health problems begin to show, including:

  • fatigue, poor concentration, irritability, insomnia;
  • headaches, frequent infections, skin problems;
  • emotional instability hormonal disorders;
  • intestinal problems, arthritis, premature aging.

Many toxic elements are anti-nutrients. This means that the damage caused by the interference is made with the absorption and utilization of nutrients, or by its excretion from the body. For example, lead, that comes from cars, pesticides, and tap water all interfere with mineral absorption of zinc; cadmium in cigarettes, eliminates the vitamin C in the body. The lack of these nutrients, as we see, interferes with the functioning of antioxidant enzymes and, therefore, in the prevention and destruction of free radicals.

It is impossible to avoid any toxicity (external, or caused by the body) following metabolic processes. However we can take action to reduce the harm that can cause toxicity.

There are several important steps to take to maintain health, while living in a society where the artificial contaminated and has gained ground in the natural.

3 Simple Solutions for Detoxification

1. Try taking on a detox diet. We are what we eat. Pick one from our growing list of detox diets.
2. Go outside and exercise. This is great for opening up the our skin’s elimination path.
3. Try taking on a colon cleansing product to detoxify the colon that hasn’t been cleaned out yet. This could work wonders for your system as people claim this is the root cause of many of our degenerative diseases. People sometimes feel an increase in energy after doing this.

30 Day Natural Detox Diet Video

We just finished talking about what is a natural detox last week and some of the methods we can use to detox our digestive system. Now we will talk about a video I found on YouTube that gives details on how a day with a detox diet by Dr Tracy Tranchitella, ND will play out. She gives a little glimpse of what a daily detox diet would look like during her 30 Day Detox Diet.

She goes on to talk about how she starts off most of her patients with a detox diet to get them to feel better and healthier. Patients will report to have detox symptoms such as headaches and fatigue during the initial stage but after a week, some report having weight loss, feeling much more healthier, and a desire to continue eating healthy.

The diet under her standards consist of eating organic and raw vegetables and fruits. Also, eating foods high in fiber, your essential fats, and antioxidants such as berries (goji berries would be a good selection) that are low sugar are great for this diet. Most of her patients really enjoy the smoothie recipe (with flax oil and ground flaxseeds). A probiotic supplement is suggested to increase the friendly bacteria in the intestines.

Here is an example of what kind of diet she would recommend her patients.

Sample Breakfast

Hardy Breakfast Lighter Protein
Gluten free hot cereal Fresh fruit and a choice from these types of nuts Organic Eggs prepared at low heat

Sample Lunch & Dinner

A Sample Lunch and dinner should be:

  1. Low in starch carbohydrates
  2. Consist of More vegetables, double the size of your palm in quantity as a rule of thumb.
  3. The palm of your hand should be a guide for the quantity of protein (non-starchy).

A Large Raw Salad followed by some protein (i.e. fish) is a great combo for dinner/lunch.

Some people will even lose weight as a result of cleansing the body of toxins. She feels that the solution to pollution is dilution. Many people feel a significant difference, especially for those that have been eating horribly, after the detox diet.

Headaches and fatigue can result during the initial detox diet. This is a good sign as it shows that your body is downloading all the toxins and eliminating them from your body.

The detox diet is more than just a diet, it is more like a lifestyle.
